Laptop Adapter failure

I get so many laptops in that have an adapter issue.  What is the adapter you ask?  It is the wire you connect to the laptop that gives it power...you know, the thing that has a big square brick in the middle of it and plugs into the wall.  Anyway there are a couple things you want to keep in mind so your adapter and for that matter the hole it plugs into on the laptop can last for a long time.

First and formost, when you are finished with the adapter and are putting it away don't stress the wires by tightly wrapping it around itself...Wrap it around but leave it loose, that way the wire won't break.  Also when you are using the adapter watch that the end that plugs into the laptop isn't being pulled by the weight of the adapter itself or the laptop...90% of the failure rate is at the end were it plugs into the laptop due to repeated stress.

This brings up another issue...Not only does it stress the wire and possibly cause it to break but it stresses the connection in the laptop..I have fixed many broken power connections on motherboards due to the solder breaking from the continual pulling of the cord.

Well that about does it....and if anyone needs an adapter, I always have one or two kicking around,
